Ah, it is that time of the year again where we can get spoilt and eat too much chocolate. But why is it we always panic when it comes to buying the perfect gift for a loved one? Women’s and men’s clothing is notoriously tricky to buy for someone else, yet it remains a popular choice of gift for Valentine’s Day. Getting the clothes that your partner really wants is an essential part of the whole ‘giving’ experience but how do you know what they will actually like?
Men’s Clothing Choices
If you must do underwear then forget socks and go with a pair of themed boxer shorts. They are fun and provide a little light relief on a day where stress levels are high because of the expectation that the day needs to be perfect. Leave the socks for his mother to take care of! If you are thinking about getting outerwear, then think about the colours and styles that he normally wears. If you want to get your partner something that he wants then don’t try and buy something out of his usual style range as you will likely end up getting him something that will never be worn. Shirts are often a great men’s clothing gift. If however, he never wears formal shirts then you should go with a t-shirt instead. Sticking with what he normally wears is the safest way to be sure that you will buy him something he wants.
Women’s Clothing Choices
Women’s clothing can be somewhat trickier to get right as women tend to have varied wardrobes rather than set styles. Men often stick with what they know while women will have different tops, skirts and trousers for every occasion. A new dress is often a welcomed present for a woman as it is more special than a t-shirt and less cliché than lingerie, meaning that she will appreciate the gesture even if the design isn’t quite right. This doesn’t mean however that you choose any old dress. It is wise to think about the colour as well as the cut and if necessary go through her wardrobe and see how her other clothes hang. Looking at whether she has low cut tops, high necks, long skirts, or loose trousers will give you an idea of the style that you know she will be comfortable in.
Valentine’s Day 2011
Valentine’s Day this year looks set to be a cold one and women’s clothing gifts as well as men’s can be anything from sexy through to comfortable and convenient. Cashmere sweaters and cardigans are also great choices this year! If you are spending Valentine’s Day with your loved one abroad in sunny climates then why not treat them to new swimwear or sunglasses. Again make sure that you think about their usual style so if they like baggy shorts don’t go out and buy a pair of tight Speedos.
Valentine’s Day is a time to use your imagination but if you want to make sure that you get your loved one clothes that they really want to wear than you should stick with styles and colours that they usually wear. Whether you choose to shop online or in a store there are plenty of men and women’s clothing choices with Valentine’s Day themes that can be a lot of fun to buy.
If you are still somewhat unsure, then maybe you should buy your partner a voucher this Valentine’s Day and let them choose something that they really want.
If you’re thinking of buying your partner men’s clothing or women’s clothing this Valentines Day, why not check out UNIQLO UK’s online fashion store for some unique gift ideas.
With Christmas over for another year and New Year’s resolutions being made not to be broken, UNIQLO have created a perfect shape trouser collection sure to accentuate and lengthen your legs in all the right places, ideal for the detox season.
The perfect shape collection has been developed through rigorous fittings, ensuring the most flattering of lines and details for both men and women.
Perfect Shape jeans are made with a slightly smaller front than back panel, creating a slender, sculpted leg. The addition of a slight curve to the rear of the yoke focuses the eyes on the upper part of the jeans for a hip lifting effect.
Perfect Shape straight trousers have a slightly raised knee position making the legs look longer, as well as a three-dimensional pattern to flatter the hips. The addition of a thick belt minimises the hips and helps to flatten and shape the tummy.
