Sapphire completes acquisition of UK based Infor10 Financials Business (SunSystems) VAR

Sapphire Systems and General Systems have joined forces to form the largest global Infor10 Financial Business (SunSystems) partner.

General Systems has been a successful Infor SunSystems partner for over 20 years and has an active Infor10 SunSystems and Kontrolla (procurement management) client base.  There are direct product and positioning synergies with Sapphire’s Infor business and geographically, with Sapphire’s Manchester offices.

Effective immediately Sapphire will be jointly responsible, with the General Systems team, for providing General Systems’ clients with maintenance, support and account management services.

21 Sep 11 Srixon Sports Europe to implement SAP Business One

Inter-company and multi-currency requirements to be met with solution from Sapphire

Srixon, a world leading golfing brand, is to implement SAP Business One from Sapphire Systems for 50 users. Srixon equipment is synonymous with high performance and innovation and as such it is used by Professional Golfers all around the world, including US Open winner Graeme McDowell.

Headquartered in Japan, Srixon’s European business has grown rapidly over the last couple of years and integration of Cleveland Golf into their portfolio left their Pegasus system highly stretched in a multi-company and multi-country environment. Srixon’s systems were starting to affect the bottom line, so Nicki Jamieson and the senior management team set about evaluating solutions and partners that would be able to support their plans for the next phase of the company’s growth.

Nicki decided to follow an RFI approach where strong candidates were selected before a further a round of detailed demonstrations led to the selection of a preferred supplier.  As part of their Global IT Strategy their Japanese parent requested that the SAP Business One solution should be considered, and SAP All-in-One and Microsoft Dynamics were also evaluated.

Following detailed demonstrations and references SAP Business One was identified as the ideal solution for Srixon; it met all the functionality requirements stipulated, including managing Custom Fit ordering, production and fulfilment processes where Custom Fit clubs are made to measure for individual golfers. The requirement to streamline this process within the system was highlighted as a key challenge.

Sapphire was also able to offer Inter-Company reporting and consolidation of all information throughout the companies within the group (Srixon will have companies and branches for the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy set up and localised in SAP Business One).

The ability to quickly pull out any information needed on any aspect of the business was central to the decision taken. “SAP Business One blew us away with the basics – a lot of it is so automated; our previous system was very manual” said Nicki, adding “With SAP Business One you get an end-to-end process; all the way through you use the same software seamlessly. There is no need to dip in and out of other systems to get information required.”

Nicki and the Srixon team were impressed that whilst SAP Business One works out of the box it can also be adapted easily to specific requirements, for example User Defined Fields enable the system to meet future reporting requirements with no discernible overhead. Sapphire’s SAP Development and Integration Team was able to demonstrate the ability to integrate SAP Business One fully with Srixon’s 3rd Party logistics systems, and those of their parent company, whilst providing the comfort that future requirements could also be met.

Other SAP Business One partners were reviewed, “but Sapphire has been absolutely professional from the very first meetings we had and it was this, along with their experience, which made the Sapphire team stand out as an organisation we wanted to do business with” explained Nicki. “Sapphire’s existing SAP Business One customers have a high number of users and we wanted to work with a company that had experience and a solid customer base at the higher end of the market.  Sapphire’s recent SAP Business One Customer User Day was very impressive too.”

Nicki concluded “We expect to move forward in leaps and bounds post implementation, with easy access to information and speed and ease of reporting.”

Solution from Sapphire chosen to meet multi-dimensional requirements

Shakespeare’s Globe has selected Sapphire to implement and support a 10 user SAP Business One solution to strengthen operational efficiency and meet advanced reporting requirements.

David Magness, Head of Finance at Shakespeare’s Globe, explained the need to find a new back office system saying “Quite simply the existing accounts system was old – it had been in place for 13 years and we had outgrown it. Shakespeare’s Globe is much more than just the theatre; there is also the exhibition, shop, support function and an education department that covers numerous different activities.  The many facets to our business make the accounting quite complex, so a solution that could manage multiple divisions was required.”

A comprehensive review of financial accounting solutions available on the market was undertaken along with a formal tendering process.  From a longer list of eight solutions, a short list of SAP Business One and two other market leading solutions was reached.

“SAP Business One stood out thanks to multi-dimensional analysis functionality and the ability to integrate with iDocuments [a system that manages expenses, purchasing and sales invoicing] which will improve document flow through the business” commented David on the decision taken.

“Sapphire was already a corporate partner and showed a great deal of interest in Shakespeare’s Globe with a very professional approach. We really felt that the team that presented SAP Business One understood what we do and our exact requirements – they showed us exactly how to use the solution to meet our needs” said David, adding “The reporting functionality really suited us too, for example we will quickly and easily be able to run reports on Daily Box Office Takings as well as the amount spent on Educational Practitioners for the various courses we run. Management reports can be run on demand on any aspect of our business at summary level with drill down to further analysis and/or transactional level detail as required; this will significantly enhance the timeliness, quality, level of detail, accuracy and availability of our management reporting”.

Looking ahead to when the system is in place David says “We will have far more visibility of the detail behind income and costs. SAP Business One will bring improved efficiency to the finance department and will enhance links between finance and other departments.”

Solution from Sapphire selected for multi-currency and intercompany reporting functionality

Sapphire to implement and support SAP Business One at Reservoir Group, an international oilfield services organisation and recognised specialist in the fields of down hole drilling, completion and production and physical and digital data management.

Reservoir Group had a requirement for a single system to roll out across the whole group, to improve the consistency, control and ease of financial accounting.  Craig Hutcheon, Group Financial Controller explained: “We operate a ‘buy and build’ model, continually acquiring new companies, so find we have a lot of disparate systems.  Crucially, we felt that none of our existing systems could manage the complex, multi-currency requirements of the Group.”

Sapphire to implement Infor FMS SunSystems at tour operator with global requirements

Sapphire is pleased to announce it has been chosen to implement Infor FMS SunSystems for fifteen users, along with the Compleat procurement solution for fifty users, at All Leisure Group, a group of global tour operators.

The organization had grown and All Leisure required a more robust system than the entry level financial accounting solution in place.  Due to the more complex requirements, including multi-currency, revenue/cost recognition, consolidation and reporting, All Leisure “Moved up a tier in terms of solutions reviewed” explained Mark Jeffries, Head of Finance at All Leisure.  Coda, Microsoft Dynamics, Access and Infor FMS SunSystems were shortlisted.

“The previous system was no longer up to the task” said Mark, “The All Leisure group of companies is much more complex now and we run a high number of foreign exchange transactions.  We also wanted to record foreign transactions by dual rates of exchange for the same currency, this SunSystems could do.”

Mark attended a Sapphire seminar on evaluating financial management solutions towards the end of 2009, when he knew they would soon start looking for a new solution.  He was aware of Infor FMS SunSystems and wanted to see the latest version.   Mark was impressed – both with Sapphire as an organization and at how SunSystems had improved and developed.  “Everyone I met from Sapphire was enthusiastic and very personable.  They understood our needs and the specific requirements of the travel sector and I felt confident that the on-going working relationship would be positive.”

Infor FMS SunSystems was the best fit for All Leisure’s requirements as it offered a complete accounting package.   Mark was also keen to implement a solution that would work well with Microsoft Excel and whereby data could be quickly manipulated on and reported as necessary.

The finance team at All Leisure is looking forward to benefiting “immensely” from detailed analysis with very defined dimensions once Infor FMS SunSystems is live.  “Being able to report where the underlying mixed foreign transactions are exchanged at dual rates of exchange is absolutely vital for us and with SunSystems in place this will be no problem.  We have four ships; each one needs to be accounted for along with the various different ports that they visit – which means that we work with a lot of different currencies.  The level of analysis that we will be able to drill into with SunSystems will allow us to make better, faster management decisions to drive the business forward.”

In addition to Infor FMS SunSystems, All Leisure also opted to implement Compleat as “We were desperately in need of a proper purchase order processing solution, to cover all our offices and ships, one that could be used by non finance staff” said Mark.  “We will now have a proper view of all expenditure in advance of invoices coming in.  This will help with forward planning so that we can ensure we have all the currencies we need for payments in place.”

Sapphire Systems named as a global partner for Infor FMS SunSystems

Sapphire is pleased to announce that it has signed a new global partnership agreement with Infor to sell Infor FMS SunSystems worldwide.

Sapphire Systems has a long history in the implementation and support of Infor solutions and has been the global leading partner for Infor FMS SunSystems for the past eight years.
