Jeans and t-shirts can be worn at any time, for any occasion. Well almost, maybe turning up for a wedding in this combo wouldn’t be ideal but most of the time whether you are going out for a nice meal or doing your weekly food shop, jeans and t-shirts rock. It is a trend that is particularly popular with the younger generation and while this differs massively to generations before them, it is now a widely acceptable look.
What Makes It Appealing?
So, what is it about jeans and t-shirts being worn together that appeals so much to today’s youth? It’s simple, in 2011 it’s cool to be casual.
The ease of throwing on a nice t-shirt eliminates the hassle of spinning around in front of the mirror 15 times to see exactly how your top fits before you leave the house is a great feeling. Pair a t-shirt this with some stylish jeans and you can accessorise accordingly depending on what the occasion is. The jeans and t-shirt combo allows teenagers to be lazy with their fashion statements while still looking great.
When Can You Wear Jeans and T-Shirt Combos?
Funerals, weddings, operas and some work meetings are out of bounds for jeans and t-shirts but almost everything else is fine. You can wear them for shopping, going to church, work, taking the kids to school without embarrassing them, taking the dog for a walk and you can even wear them around the house doing the housework. You can also wear them when you go out for a nice meal by jazzing the outfit up with a nice belt and, for women a cute pair of heels. A night on the town is another great time to use your accessories to make your outfit sparkle.
A Modern Look?
Jeans and t-shirts are most definitely a modern combination, as for many generations the combo was seen of as being untidy rather than trendy. While it may have been acceptable to wear as a casual outfit around the house or during a trip to the park, it certainly wouldn’t have been a chosen outfit to wear out to dinner. This shift in trends may be down to the accessory-craze that ensures that you can make any outfit look great if you simply team it up with different accessories.
Jeans and t-shirts are a wonderful way to dress casually without looking like you didn’t bother to dress properly once you got out of the shower. As long as they fit well, are well-made and clean, this classic casual outfit can be worn by almost anyone, anywhere, at any time!

Men’s t-shirts and women’s t-shirts are always popular items of clothing and as 2011 gets well under way it’s time we started looking at what we can expect from the fashion world this summer.
Manga t-shirts look set to rock summer 2011. Women’s and men’s t-shirts with Manga designs will be readily available this year throughout stores around the world and keen fashionistas will have to go Manga-crazy to keep up with the times. T-shirts may have Manga designs on the front or on the back and some may even just feature a small cartoon on the sleeve. The designs can portray anything from famous Manga cartoons such as Shotaro Ishinomori, Gundam, Taiyo Matsumoto, Naruto, Golgo 13 and Ashita no Joe through to less famous cartoon pictures. The pictures are often bright colours printed onto plain coloured t-shirts and they suit anyone looking to add an edge to their style.
Women’s t-shirts with various printed slogans and pictures have been a popular choice for many years and are likely to remain so this year; the prints can include anything from funny slogans through to controversial and sexy pictures. Men’s t-shirts with printed words or pictures also look set to be a hit this summer; they are often plain with a centrally-printed message or image. However, some printed t-shirts have patterns all over with women’s t-shirts featuring repetitive imagery such as fun fruits or cute animals whilst men’s t-shirts may feature faces or humourous images.
Women’s and men’s t-shirts with illustrative images on can be found this year in all good fashion outlets. The images can be of anything funky from Koi carp fish designs through to dainty sparrows and quirky zombies. These brighten up any plain and otherwise somewhat boring t-shirts and are perfect for both men and women who enjoy playing with fashion. Usually the images are printed in the centre of the t-shirt, making it a wise choice to wash anything with a printed image on inside out – even the highest quality men’s and women’s t-shirts will deteriorate with extensive washes.
Summer 2011 is the year of the short sleeves although three-quarter length sleeves also look set to make a popular return. Long sleeves are kept for the wintery months but as soon as summer hits short sleeve t-shirts will be readily available with all kinds of fun patterns, prints and images on. V-necks will be outdone by the more classical round-neck and collars will also be seen, although classical t-shirt shapes or short sleeves with rounded necks will be the most fashionable choice.
Funny t-shirts with edgy messages, along with t-shirts with images and humorous versions of famous brands can also be found. However, these are likely to be largely replaced with Manga t-shirts as summer 2011 looks to shake up the t-shirt world with some innovative creations.
2011 may be the year of the Rabbit, but according to the fashion houses this year is set to be the year of the t-shirt!
UNIQLO have collaborated with various designers, artists and famous brands to produce a number of UT men’s t-shirts and women’s t-shirts which encompass the season’s trends and are available throughout spring and summer 2011.

This year, UNIQLO teams up with Manga Entertainment for the Naruto UT collection of 32 styles based on the bestselling, world-beating anime series. This men’s t-shirts line is released in early 2011, and will be followed by other anime brands later in the year, including One Piece and Dragon Ball Z.
• WHO IS NARUTO!? He’s the teenage ninja sensation who first appeared in Japanese comic form in 1997, and in his own TV series in 2002. A martial artist in training, possessed by a Nine-tailed Demon Fox, Naruto is the icon for a digital generation that watches his show, reads his comics and plays the video games based on his adventures.
• AS NOT SEEN ON TV. The Naruto TV series has never been shown on British television. That hasn’t stopped a quarter of a million Naruto DVDs flying from UK stores to eager fans. Television is so last century…
• THE WAY OF ANIME. Anime isn’t just something to watch, it’s a way of life for thousands of British teenagers, who have never known a world without it. It’s opened their eyes to fashion crazes like Hello Kitty and the Gothic Lolitas. It’s opened their ears to J-pop, J-rock, Visual Kei and Japanese hip-hop.
Anime and Manga (Japanese comics) are vibrant, growing parts of UK subculture and its fashions are trickling down onto the streets, with Victorian frills, manly shoulder pads and hyper-real heroic get-ups. Anime fashion has evolved out of the moving image and into global culture.
This year, Manga Entertainment, the UK’s leading purveyor of Japanese animation (or “anime”), celebrates two decades as film producers, market leaders and video distributors for such acclaimed animation classics as Akira, Bleach and Death Note.
