14 Jun 10 Play Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker before its launch at UNIQLO’s flagship store from today!

With the launch date of the exclusive collection of limited edition METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER UT t-shirts and series creator Hideo Kojima’s signing event on 19 June still a few days away, UNIQLO and Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH are offering fans of the METAL GEAR SOLID series a chance to play the latest instalment; METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER in the UNIQLO Oxford Street flagship store as from today.

Developed specifically for the PSP™ system, METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER is the next true chapter in the story of legendary special ops expert, Snake (a.k.a. Big Boss), and acts as a direct sequel to Kojima’s previously released Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Taking full advantage of the PSP™ format, METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER takes the series in an exciting new direction with incredible visuals, as it sheds new light on well-known adversaries and allies, along with a wealth of new characters.

Series creator Hideo Kojima and lead artist Yoji Shinkawa will be visiting UNIQLO’s London flagship store on Oxford Street, on Saturday 19 June, where they will be signing copies of METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER and exclusive postcards from 11:00am – 1:00pm. But, with the game on sale from June 18 2010, UNIQLO customers will be able to enjoy a chance to go hands-on via special pods containing the game from June 10 to 19 2010. In accordance with the game’s BBFC rating, players must be over 15.

Each UT t-shirt comes with its own special code, that when entered into METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER game, unlocks the purchase so the t-shirt can worn by a character within the game. The first 20 customers in line on the signing day will receive an exclusive UNIQLO METAL GEAR SOLID: PEACE WALKER goodie bag, featuring  t-shirts and a copy of the game.

UNIQLO announce a designer collaboration with Velvet by Graham and Spencer, the brand who brought a contemporary design attitude to the simple t-shirt.

Velvet by Graham and Spencer, is an American brand created by Jenny Graham and Toni Spencer. Velvet first became known for its ultra soft, feminine and modern t-shirts. 27 Apr 10 UNIQLO and Konami join forces and launch exclusive UT Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker t-shirt collection

UNIQLO today announce a new collaboration with video game publisher Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH to produce an exclusively collection of limited edition UT t-shirts inspired by Konami’s forthcoming Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker video game for PSP™ (Playstation® Portable).

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is released for PSP™ on 18 June 2010, and to celebrate its launch, UNIQLO has produced a collection of 10 limited edition UT t-shirts, exclusively available at the UNIQLO flagship store and online from Saturday 19 June, priced at £12.99 each. Each UT t-shirt comes with its own special code, that when entered into Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker game, unlocks the purchase so the t-shirt can worn by a character within the game.

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is the latest addition to Konami’s best-selling series of stealth-based action titles and sees series hero Solid Snake embark on a mission to South America during the Cold War. Written and directed by series creator Hideo Kojima, the new game boasts stunning visuals that bring the game to vivid life, as players are charged with infiltrating a series of heavily-guarded areas and neutralising the enemy threat.

14 Apr 10 UNIQLO UK Ecommerce Expansion Plans

UNIQLO UK today announce their plans to expand their ecommerce operation for Autumn 2010, as well as the growth of the existing ecommerce team.

Launched in 2007, the current ecommerce operation offers a concise selection of UNIQLO items, relative to that of a smaller bricks and mortar store. Plans for the new ecommerce operation include offering the entire UNIQLO collection, as well as online exclusives; meeting customer demands and bringing the best of this successful Japanese brand to a nationwide audience.

UNIQLO UK CEO, Simon Coble recognises the expansion of the ecommerce website as an important growth for the fashion company: “we have a huge opportunity to further expand the UNIQLO brand in the UK and the ecommerce website needs to become our most important store to enable us to do this. We aim for the UNIQLO ecommerce operation to be the most profitable store by the end of 2010 and I’m very excited to be expanding the ecommerce team to spearhead this growth.”

Although UNIQLO is now expanding stores within France and Russia, with more countries planned, the UK online clothing store website is the only online European operation and will ultimately offer the platform for future European ecommerce expansion.

High summer sees the launch of new sub-brands and functional technical innerwear collections.

In denim spinning, vintage treatment and cotton-blending Japan is recognised as the indisputable world leader.
